Karen, age 59, passed away Sunday, May 16, 2021 at her home in rural Lovilia surrounded by her loving family.
She was born February 22, 1962 in Albia to Clifford “Harp” Pettyjohn and Mitzi Karen (Wallace) Pettyjohn.
Karen was joined in marriage with Gary Ballalatak on November 5, 1983. They were blessed with two children: Tim and Steph.
Besides family time her joys included: cooking, baking, dancing, music, travel, casino trips, fishing, mushroom hunting, sitting on the porch, and Lord of the Rings.
She is survived by her husband, her children, grandchildren ( Harper Bonnett and Mitzi Ballalatak) and her father. She also leaves her siblings: Delbert Pettyjohn of Monroe City, Mo; Doreen Pettyjohn of Flagler; Donald (Debbie) Pettyjohn of Marysville, and Mark (Wendy) Pettyjohn of Marysville, Iowa.
Preceding her in death were her mother, and a niece, Christina Pettyjohn.
Visitation will be Thursday, May 20, 2021 from 9:30 a.m.- 11 a.m. at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Lovilia, Iowa. Then a Mass of Christian Burial will follow there at 11 a.m. with Father Mark Yates officiating. Internment will be right after mass at St. Peter’s Cemetery.
Memorials may be directed to St. Peter’s Cemetery.
