Two More Graduates

Tre Good is the son of Amy Sebban and Donald Good. He plans to enter the workforce.

James Andrew Joseph Wayland is the son of Aleishia Hainline and step son of Jason Hainline. He plans to continue his employment with HyVee Distribution Center.

Best wishes to both of these 2020 Albia High Graduates.

Ardith Jean Showers Obiturary

Ardith, age 76, died April 11, 2020 at Comfort House in Pella. She was born Oct. 24, 1943 in Knoxville to James and Lanell (Smith) Rowland. She grew up in Columbia where she attended country school. Later Ardith graduated from Knoxville High School.

Harold Gerome Showers and Ardith were married August. 10, 1962. They shared 54 years together before his passing April 4, 2017. They were blessed with four sons: Rodney, Randy, Roger, and Ryan.

She worked several years at Garwood Drug Store and then at Hy-Vee pharmacy dept. in Albia until her retirement in 2005.

She was an excellent cook and especially liked preparing Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners for her family. Hobbies included going on drives, sewing, and shopping.

A private graveside service was held at Woodlawn Cemetery in Lovilia, Iowa.

She is survived by her sons and their families: Rodney of Knoxville,Iowa; Randy of Sulphur Springs, Texas, and Roger of Albia,Iowa. She has 13 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Also, surviving are her siblings: Ardean, Rowland, Charlotte, and Arlen. Brother -in – law Cecil and Sandy Showers, and sister-in-law Mary Showers, live in rural Lovilia .

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and son, Ryan.

Memorials may be given to West Ridge Specialty Care of Knoxville, Iowa in her memory.

2020 High School Graduates at Albia with Lovilia Roots

Listing the graduates in alphabetical order:

Devon Lee Aldridge is the son of Jeremy Aldridge and Janice Aldridge. He hopes to study aviation but is undecided about which school.

Jocelyn Rachelle Beary is the daughter of Mike and Marilyn Beary. She plans to attend Iowa School of Beauty for cosmetology.

Barrett Bonnett is the son of Dusty and Renee Bonnett. He pans to major in mechanical engineering at Iowa State University.

William Burk, son of Bill Burk and Tammy Sue Massick, wants to go to Universal Technical Institute to become an auto technician and he is also currently enlisted in the Army Reserves.

Hailey Kurimski, daughter of David and Tina Kurimski, will attend Indian Hills community College for Dental hygiene and receive her AA degree.

Lindsey Manser,daughter of Harold and Brandi Manser, will go to Indian Hills Community College but has not chosen a field of study yet.

Gaige Curtis Rankin, son of Steven and Bonnie Rankin, will enter the work force.

Makenna Ann Ross, daughter of former Lovilia residents, Kenny and Anna Ross, will attend the University of Northern Iowa. She plans to major in communication disorders and then earn her master’s in speech and language pathology.

Savannah Rose Stalzer is the daughter of Brad and Mindy Stalzer. She plans to attend the University of Northern Iowa and double major in actuarial science and finance.

These seniors will receive their diplomas Saturday, June 20th. Good luck and best wishes in your future careers.

Janice Ann Ansley Obituary

Janice, age 78, passed away at her home on Wednesday, June17, 2020 in Albia.

She was born on November 14, 1941 to Dave and LaRue (Edgington) Roberts Anderson. Janice went to school in Albia and graduated with the class of 1960. On February 18, 1962 she married Arthur Paul Ansley at the Presbyterian Church in Albia. They were blessed with four children: Brian, Melinda, Dawn, and Dana. They shared 48 years of marriage prior to his passing on March 5, 2010.

They moved to Burlington, Iowa where Janice worked for General Electric. In 1970 they moved to Lovilia, Iowa and she worked in Albia first at Chamberlains and then spent nearly 30 years working at Chicago Rivet until her retirement.

Janice was very active with the Lovilia Community Betterment Committee. She enjoyed bowling league, traveling, gardening, reading, knitting crocheting, and growing flowers.

Surviving her are her children: Brian (Carol) Ansley, Melinda “Mindy” Harris, Dawn (Kevin) Maughan, and Dana (Steve) Osborn. She has 14 grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. She also leaves three siblings: Bill (Sue) Roberts, Dan Anderson, and Rick (Ruth) Anderson.

Janice was preceded in death by: her husband; her parents; her stepfather, Charles “Andy” Anderson; a grandson, Joseph Maughan; and her parents-in-law, Eldora and Art Ansley.

Visitation will be held in Albia at Tharp’s Funeral Home from 2-8 p.m. Monday, June 22, 2020. The family will there to greet visitors from 5-8 p.m..

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 23, 2020 at Tharp’s with Pastor Lynda Carlson officiating. Burial will follow services at Woodlawn Cemetery in Lovilia, Iowa.

Memorials have been established to Lovilia Community Betterment or to the Leisure Lounge Senior Center in Albia.

May she rest in peace.
