Bit of News
Halloween trick or treat night was Saturday, Oct. 31st from 5-7pm in Lovilia. Last year the kids showed up in small numbers due to very cool weather. This year it was warm and in spite of the covid virus the kids showed up in large numbers. I did not expect the large numbers and I treated 42 kids by 5:45pm and had to turn off my porch light. Hopefully next year we will have a virus vaccine and things will be back to regular numbers when I served 100 kids on E Avenue.
Lindsey Chance and family moved this week to Albia. Her mother, Patti Chance, will remain here in Lovilia in their former residence.
Concrete workers installed a new front sidewalk at the TJ and Jacqueline Post house on E Avenue.
More action on E Avenue, the former Harold Waters house, now owned by Brenda Chilton, was raised into the air on jacks, forms were placed, and a full basement poured. Several days later the jacks came out and the house lowered onto the basement. Amazing to see for a non-builder like my self.
Joan Slofkosky Ford has sold the North End Tavern after over 30 years as the owner and operator. Kim Keegal, daughter of Jim Keegal, is the new owner and we wish her well. The North End is a Lovilia landmark and we are happy it will continue to be one. Enjoy your retirement Joan!
