New City Clerk Hired
Lisa Gilkerson has been hired as Lovilia City Clerk. Her training will begin Aug. 3rd. Current clerk, Patti DeGross ,will work with Lisa until Patti retires on Nov. 3oth. Dec.1st will be Lisa’s first day. Welcome and best wishes to Lisa in her new job serving Lovilia. Happy Retirement wishes to Patti and thanks for your many years of faithful service.
Help Lovilia and Return your Census Form
The city clerk reminds everyone who has not sent in their census form to please do so soon.
Road use money is based on the number of people living in Lovilia. So to receive money for our street repairs we need to count everyone who lives here.
Starting in August, if you have not returned the census form, a census worker will come to your home to gather the information.

Gregory S. Griffith Arrested
Griffith, age 32, was arrested on felony warrants for parole violation and narcotics offenses out of Marion and Mahaska counties. His address was listed as Lovilia.
Iowa New Tobacco Law Requires you be age 21 to possess or buy tobacco: Be Alert to this new Law
This brings Iowa into alignment with the federal Tobacco 21 bill that took effect in Dec. 2019.
Under the new law it is illegal to sell tobacco products or supply them to anyone under 21 years of age. If you are under 21 you can not possess, purchase or attempt to purchase a covered tobacco product. This includes vaping products.
Household Hazardous Waste Disposal
South Central Iowa Solid Waste Agency has returned to disposing of these wastes by appointment only.
These appointments are available only on Wednesdays at the Landfill at Tracy.
