Norma Barnes will celebrate her 97th birthday on Sunday, May 31, 2020. Her children invite her friends, neighbors, and former students to shower her with cards. Her mailing address is: P.O. Box 363, Lovilia, Ia. 50150. She lives in her own home and is active in Lovilia. God bless and enjoy your day!

Memorial Day

Lovilia Legion members honored veterans at St. Peter’s and Woodlawn cemeteries. To be coordinated in dress they all had matching white ball caps with the Legion emblem sewed on the front. The hats were sewn and his time donated by David Kurimski of Lovilia. Thanks to David for helping in this way to honor the veterans. May all the service men and women rest in peace. We owe them our freedom. Thank you for your sacrifices.

Update on Residences

The former Edith Barnes home on North E Avenue is for sale. The current residents are the Ford family.

Dean and Vicky Ballalatak are the new owners of the O’Brien house on the east side of the highway. This is the house across the street north of Ronnie Allison.

Gerald Chamberlain is the new owner of the house a block off of highway 5 in the south end that was formerly the Lyle and Kay Morgan home.

School Year Ends

Shirley Plum retired at the end of the school year after over 20 years service as a teacher’s aide. Best wishes for a fun and restful retirement, Shirley! She and her husband, Richard Plum, are Lovilia residents.

Due to the covid 19 virus, graduation has been postponed for the Albia high school seniors. To honor them the school placed signs in the families yard stating that a 2020 graduate lives here. Best wishes to all seniors in your future education and career path.
