Milo was born June 24, 1956 to Gene and Marge (Hyer) McCombs in Missouri. He attended school in a Albia. Milo was united in marriage to Cindy Brees on June 26, 1976 in Bethany, Missouri. They have four children : Charity, Justin, Samantha, and Bill. Milo and Cindy shared 44 years of marriage.
Milo worked in Ico, McConville and Shinn’s coal mines. Then he worked at the landfill as a heavy equipment operator and equipment supervisor. He also operated his own business, Shade Tree Repair, in Lovilia for over 30 years.
Milo’s interests included: being outdoors, mushroom hunting, antiques, collecting old bottles from Buxton area, collecting watch fobs, and the history of the coalmines in the Lovilia and Buxton area. He enjoyed spending time with friends in his garage and especially time with family and his grandchildren.
Milo passed away on September 23, 2020.
He is survived by his wife and four children, ten grandchildren, and siblings: Sandy McCombs, Wendell McCombs, Michelle (Dale) Sandusky, Larry Goemaat, Chris (Brenda) McCombs, and Bill (Kathleen) McCombs.
He is preceded in death by his parents and four siblings; Nathan McCombs, Marlin Goemaat, Harold McCombs, and Norma Jean Blaylock.
Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Friday, October 2, 2020 at the Tharp Funeral Home in Albia. Milo’s family will be present from 5-8 p.m. to greet family and friends.
Celebration of Life services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 3, 2020 at the location of Milo’s childhood home at 201 East 19th Street, Lovilia, Iowa with Jeff Comstock officiating.
A memorial has been established to DaVita Pella Dialysis in Pella, Iowa.
