Spook Smith died April 15, 2020

Michael Fred “Spook” Smith passed away at his residence in Lovilia on April 15, 2020 at age 69.
Arrangements are pending with Sinnott Funeral Home, Gilbert Chapel, Lovilia, Iowa.
May he rest in peace.

Paul Eugene Post died May 10, 2020

Paul Eugene, age 88, passed away May 10, 2020 at his rural farm home in Monroe County.

He was born July 9,1931 to Abraham and Lois (Byerly) Post at home on the family farm. He attended rural country school.

January 2, 1957 he and Joann Marie Sager of Albia were married and they shared 63 years together before he passed. They were blessed with three children: Daniel, Robert, and Connie.

Paul said he farmed most of his life and enjoyed every day of it. He was known as being a skilled hedge post cutter. He gardened and sold his produce at farmer’s markets. He liked fishing, hunting , and guiding turkey hunters. He enjoyed the company and shared laughter of friends.

He is survived by his wife; sister, Sandy (Gus) Sampson; son Dan (Tammy) Post of Albia, Iowa; son Robert (Pam) Post of Lovilia, Iowa; and Connie (Brett) Dorwart of Fort Peck, MT. Also he has five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He had one sister-in-law, Donna Post, surviving. He also leaves two young men who were like children to him, Michael Lenger and Bob Gissell.
He was preceded in death by : grandson, Corey; his parents; four brothers: Harlan, Kenny, Don, and Irwin Post; and 3 sisters: Wilhelmina Post, Pauline Smith, and Evelyn Post.

Visitation was May 13th at Tharp Funeral home in Albia. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 14, 2020 at Tharp’s with Pastor Lynda Carlson officiating. Burial will follow services in Woodlawn Cemetery in Lovilia, Ia.

DOLLAR GENERAL STORE OPENS IN LOVILIA
The store opened February 1, 2020. It has a good variety of merchandise and adds some convenience for local people to find the basics and more.The manager and workers are keeping it neat and clean. It is open seven days a week. You can’t miss the store located at the south end on Hwy 5.  We welcome them to Lovilia!

ALL SCHOOL REUNION CANCELED FOR 2020

Due to the covid-19 virus limitations the committee has canceled the reunion for this year. Maybe next year will be more promising, time will tell.
